Most screenplay tools assume you already know what you're doing. They give you a blank template and leave you there. Script Doctor was built by E. Find Your Idea (formerly called the Idea Intake Wizard) is Stage 1, and it's entirely optional. If you already have a logline or a solid premise, skip it and go straight to Build the Structure. But if you've only got a feeling — a world, a character, a moment that sparked something — this step walks you through five plain-language questions (no screenwriting vocabulary required) and turns your answers into a working logline and concept. That output flows straight into Build the Structure automatically — no copy-pasting, no starting over.

Build the Structure (formerly called the Skeleton Pass) is Stage 2. You paste or upload your script, notes, premise, or even a messy voice-memo transcript. Script Doctor reads it, identifies your scenes, characters, and story logic, then builds you a clean, structured scene-by-scene skeleton with slug lines and action beats. It also flags any logic gaps or story questions that need your input before moving forward.

Write the Draft (formerly called the Creative Pass) is Stage 3. Once you've approved your structure and answered any flagged questions, Script Doctor writes the full screenplay draft — complete with scene descriptions, character voice, and bridge dialogue that connects your story's beats. The output is formatted, production-ready, and sounds like your story, not a generic AI template.

Generate Scene Prompts is Stage 4, optional and separate from Build the Structure and Write the Draft. Once your script is finished, Script Doctor splits it into individual scenes. Each scene opens as its own dropdown and includes a practical shot list, a starting-frame image prompt, and a motion-focused video prompt. Longer scenes are divided into multiple clips, and no individual video prompt exceeds 10 seconds. You can choose the total scene length and whether spoken dialogue is included. Copy This Scene copies only the script, shot list, and prompts inside that scene. If you only need the finished script, you can stop after Write the Draft.

No. Script Doctor creates scripts and detailed, platform-agnostic image and video prompts. You copy those prompts into the creative tools you prefer.

Script Doctor accepts typed or pasted text, .pdf files, and .txt files. Your input can be a clean screenplay, messy notes, a character bible, a plot summary, a treatment, or even stream-of-consciousness story ideas. The messier your input, the more Script Doctor earns its keep.

Build the Structure typically completes in 30 to 90 seconds depending on the length of your input. Write the Draft for a full short film or commercial script typically takes 60 to 120 seconds. Generate Scene Prompts processes one scene at a time. Generating prompts for a single scene takes just a few seconds, but breaking down a full-length script scene by scene will take longer the more scenes you have. A "Generate All" option is available if you'd rather queue up every scene at once instead of generating them individually.

Smart Mode does the thinking for you. You give it your script, and it makes the creative calls on logic and tone automatically, so you get a finished breakdown fast with no extra input needed.

Advanced Mode hands you the wheel. Instead of Script Doctor deciding how a scene should read for logic and tone, it asks you directly and gives you the space to answer in your own words. You get more control over the final result, but it takes a few more minutes.

Use Smart Mode when you want a fast, complete breakdown with minimal input. It's the right choice for testing an idea, working under a deadline, or getting a first pass you'll review and refine. Like any AI tool, Script Doctor can make mistakes, so always check the output before using it in your work.

Use Advanced Mode when the details matter to you. If you have a specific tone in mind, a particular piece of logic you want the script to hit, or you're working on something you plan to shoot exactly as written, Advanced Mode lets you shape those answers yourself instead of leaving them to the app.

Yes. You can switch from Smart Mode to Advanced Mode mid-script if you decide you want more control partway through the breakdown.

Yes. Both modes generate the same Character Brief output (character, scene, camera direction, body language, script line) once the breakdown is complete. The only difference is how much of the logic and tone decision-making you do yourself along the way.

Everything. The output Script Doctor generates is yours to use however you need: shoot it, pitch it, develop it further, hand it to a director or DP, use it as the foundation for AI video generation prompts, or package it as a deliverable for a client. There are no restrictions on how you use what you create here.

Yes. Scripts generated with Script Doctor can be used for commercial short films, branded content, social media campaigns, advertisements, pitch decks, and client deliverables. The output is a creative tool — what you build with it is yours.

Yes. Before you start, Script Doctor asks what you're making: a Story (short film, feature, pilot, series) or a Commercial/Brand Video (ad, product launch, brand story). Choosing Commercial changes everything downstream — the guided questions focus on your brand, audience, and call to action instead of character and plot, and Build the Structure uses commercial beats such as Hook, Problem, Solution, Payoff, and CTA instead of narrative story structure.

Yes. Script Doctor now has a Script Board where your work is automatically saved as you go, so you can leave and come back to a script without losing your progress. Right now, saved scripts live in your browser only. They're not tied to an account yet, so they won't follow you to a different browser or device, and clearing your browser data will remove them. We still recommend copying important output into a Google Doc or your preferred writing tool as a backup. A full account system with cross-device saving is on the roadmap.

Yes. Script Doctor is an AI tool, and like any AI tool, it can misread a scene, miss a story detail, or produce output that doesn't quite land the way you intended. It's built to be a strong first pass and a sharp creative collaborator, not a replacement for your own judgment. Always review the output before you shoot it, pitch it, or send it to a client.

No, and that's intentional. Script Doctor structures, formats, and develops what you give it. Your story idea, characters, and creative decisions remain yours. Script Doctor is designed to work only with what you give it: it isn't meant to invent plot points or resolve story logic gaps without asking you first.

Good. That's exactly what Script Doctor is designed for. Most creators don't start with clean copy. The Skeleton Pass is specifically built to handle fragmented notes, unstructured prose, voice memo transcripts, and half-formed ideas. If something is genuinely too vague to work with, the tool will flag it and ask you a targeted question instead of guessing.

Your projects are saved in this browser. When you use Script Doctor, the material needed for generation is sent securely to our AI service and temporarily processed to return your result. Temporary job data is automatically deleted after 24 hours. Your story remains yours.

Your scripts are stored locally in your own browser and are not sent to or stored on our servers. This also means we can't recover a script for you if your browser data is cleared, so we recommend copying important output elsewhere as a backup until account-based saving is available.

Yes. From the Scripts page, you can delete one script at a time or select multiple scripts to delete in bulk. Deletion is permanent and can't be undone, so you'll be asked to confirm before anything is removed.
